2019 SIPC - Concert Artist Class First Prizewinner: Ziyu Liu (China)

21-year-old Ziyu Liu won three 1st prizes at international competitions in 2019, namely the 70th Giovan Battista Viotti International Music Competition, the 29th Città de Cantù International Piano and Ocherstra Competition, and the Singapore International Piano Competition.

 
Liu has performed in many countries including Austria, Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, China, and Singapore; and in many major concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Weimarhalle in Weimar, Shanghai Concert Hall and Shandong Grand Theatre in China. He has also appeared in solo and concerto concerts at the Mozart International Music Festival in Salzburg, the Weimar Music Festival in Germany, and the Friends of Coburg Music Festival in Germany. Orchestras with which he has appeared with are the Orchestra del Teatro “Carlo Felice” di Genova, the Jenaer Philharmonie Orchestra, and the Orchestra Filarmonica “Mihail Jora” di Bacau. Liu has also been invited to give lectures on many occasions.
 
Ziyu Liu began his musical education at the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School in Beijing under Professor Ling Yuan. In 2015 he was enrolled at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover under Ewa Kupiec, and since 2017 he has been a student of Arie Vardi. Liu’s other interests include reading books on music asthetics, philosophy and literature. He also loves traveling and cuisine.
