LIU YUNTIAN


2020 SIPC Concert Artist Class first Prize Winner

Yuntian Liu has charmed listeners across three continents with his instinctive musicality and technical prowess. He is a prize winner in many competitions, includes the final laureate of The Queen Elisabeth international piano competition (2013), 2nd place in the International Competition for Young Pianists in memory of Vladimir Horowitz (1st prize not awarded) (2007), first prize in Wiesbaden Klavierwettbewerb International Competition (2004), golden prize in Chinese National Music Competition “Golden Bell” (2004). He also gained academic awards as Yamaha music scholarship, The Kansas City music club scholarship, Sigma Alpha Iota Scholarship, and has cooperated with Owen/Cox Dance Group and Kansas Public Radio statio Liu has performed at many countries around the world, including China, Japan, USA, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Italy, and Ukraine. Also he has appeared as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine; the Belgium national symphony orchestra; the Guangzhou ,Shenyang and Tianjin Symphony Orchestras; Kansas City Phiharmonic Symohony Orchestra, and ICM Chamber Orchestra. Professors and concert artists from whom he has taken master classes include Li Mingqiang, Zhou Guangren, Chen Hung-kuan, Dan Thai Son, William Grant Naboré, Malcom Bilson, Martino Tirimo and Tamás Ungár. Liu was born in China in 1986 and began to study piano at the age of 5 with Li Song and Zhu Lin. From 1999 until 2004, he studied with Xie Xiaohe in the Affiliated Middle School of Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, China. After completing his pre-collegiate studies there, Liu was recommended to advance to the piano department of the Conservatory where he pursued his undergraduate degree from 2005 to 2009 under the instruction of Professor Galyna Popova. From 2009, Liu studied with Van Cliburn international piano competition gold medallist Stanislav Ioudenitch at Park University's International Center for Music USA, where he obtained his master degree on piano performance in 2011, and graduate certificate in 2013. Liu was officially invited to study at the world-wide renowned International piano academy of Lake Como in 2013 and continued his study with Prof. Nabore and Prof. Ioudenitch. In 2018, Liu continued his doctral program in Central Conservatory of music, Beijng, under the instruction of Prof. Danwen Wei. As a faculty member, Liu currently holds a position in piano department, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Guangzhou.
