Anthony Yu Say obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Conservatory of Music in Manila, Philippines. A late bloomer in the field of music, he started formal piano lessons at the age of 16. After finishing his Bachelor's degree in Architecture, also from UST, he went on to pursue a degree in music. He studied under the tutelage of Prof. Erlinda C Fule and Prof. Raul M. Sunico, P.h. D.
Through the years, Mr. Say has become more inclined to piano pedagogy over performance. Since 2003, his students have consistently been winning prizes in both national and and was eventually invited by the late Dean Fule to teach at the UST Conservatory of Music in 2006.international piano competitions, making him one of the most sought after piano teachers in the Philippines today. He started out as a private piano teacher in 1990.
An active member of the Piano Teachers' Guild of the Philippines Foundation Inc. (PTGPFI), Mr. Say was elected board member in 2002.
He was eventually elected president in 2010. During his term as president, he spearheaded the "Forte @ 40" concert at the CCP Main Theater, featuring 40 pianos on stage with more than 300 pianists ages 8 to 80 participating. This fund raising event eventually helped transform the then Piano Teachers' Guild of the Philippines (PTGP) into a foundation.
As the president of PTGPFI, Mr. Say was invited to attend and give a talk at the preliminary conference of the International Federation of Piano Associations (IFPA) in Hongkong on November 2013. He was then being elected as the representative of Filipino piano teachers to the said federation.
Mr. Say was the coordinator of the UST Keyboard Department ifrom 2011 to 2018.
Mr. Say is also presently teaching at the Philippine High School for Arts (PHSA) in Makiling, Los Baoos, Laguna, a school funded by the Philippine government for young gifted artists.
