Pianist, Chair of Music Department of School of Arts, Renmin University of China,Beijing. Associate Professor of Piano. Deputy Executive Director of Piano Committee of Alliance of Universities, China Musician’s Association. Mr. Zhang co-founded RUC Chamber Ensemble since 2008 and serves as Artistic Director of RUC Music Festival since 2017. He is a recipient of 2019 China National Arts Fund for Performing Arts Artists.
 
Fang Zhang Received his Bachelor degree at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Master Degree at Eastman School of Music, awarded Eastman Performer's Certificate, the School's highest award for distinction in performance. Received Doctor Degree in Music Theory at School of music, Capital Normal University in Beijing. Mr. Zhang was a finalist and prize winner in the 2006 Vladimir Viardo International Piano Competition--where he was awarded the Rachmaninoff Society Special Prize--and The 12th Missouri Southern International Piano Competition. Also he was awarded First Prize in collaborative piano in the 2007 Jessie Kniesel Lieder Competition at Eastman.
 
An active soloist and chamber musician, Mr. Zhang has performed at many concert tours and festivals throughout China, USA, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Israel, Ireland and Singapore, etc. Recent performances including played 10 piano concertos with Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, Shenyang Symphony Orchestra, Harbin Symphony Orchestra, etc. Concerts at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York, Albert Roussel International Piano competition & Festival in Bulgaria, Eastman Youth International Piano Competition in Rochester, Beijing Concert Hall, National Center of Performing Arts Concert Hall in Beijing and Shenzhen Concert Hall. He has collaborated with conductors including Christian Ehwald, Muhai Tang, Yongyan Hu, Daye Lin and Tetsuji Honna. Released three CD Recordings by China Record Corporation and Beijing Publishing Center.
 
Since 2001, Mr. Zhang has been on the School of Arts faculty at the Renmin University of China where he was awarded the Excellence Teaching Award in 2010. His students have gone on to study at prestigious schools such as New England Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory, Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. He frequently served as jury member in piano competitions, gives master classes in Conservatories and Universities throughout China and the U.S.
 
Born in Shenyang, China. Mr. Zhang Studied piano with Lu Pan, Yafen Zhu, Qifang Li, Zhihong Guo, Fang Zhang (no relation),Thomas Schumacher. Studied chamber and vocal coach with Jean Barr, Russell Miller.
