General Information 
~ The Singapore International Piano Competition (SIPC) is open to pianists of all nationalities.
~ The 2021 edition will adopt an online format in which all performances will be judged from videos submitted.
~ The Competition comprises two categories: SIPC (age 18-35) and SIPC Junior (age up to 17).
~ 30 candidates from each category will be prescreened from application received and admitted to the preliminary video round.
~ The preliminary round will be judged over 10 days (January 20-29, 2021).
~ Six candidates from each category will be admitted to the final video round.
~ The final round will be judged over four days (February 1-4, 2021).
~ Finals result will be announced on February 5, 2021.
~ First prizewinners of the same class in previous editions of the SIPC are not eligible to compete.
~ Current students of the 2021 juries are not eligible to compete.

 
Application Materials to be Submitted 
SIPC Junior (Born on or after February 4, 2003)
~ Documents for prescreening
1. The completed application form.

2. Photocopy of your passport, birth certificate or identity card, showing your full name and birthdate.
3. Two recently taken professional high-resolution photos.
4. Recommendation letters from two musicians of international standing. Current or past teachers may be included.
Application deadline: November 15, 2020. No change of repertoire allowed after December 31, 2020.
Please note that incomplete application will not be considered and application fee nonrefundable.
All documents, together with a USD 200 nonrefundable application fee, must be received by November 15, 2020.
30 successful candidates will be announced by November 30, 2020. These candidates will then be asked to submit the following:
~ Preliminary round video:
A 12 to 15 minutes performance from memory:
1. One Prelude and Fugue from Well-Tempered Clavier by J. S. Bach.
2. One virtuosic étude.
3. One own choice piece (preferably in lyric style).
~ Final round video:
A 20 to 25 minutes performance from memory:
1. One complete sonata by Mozart, Haydn or Clementi. Repeats are at the discretion of the performer.
2. Commissioned work (3-5 minutes). Playing from score is permitted.
3. One or more pieces of your choice.
Commissioned work will be sent to candidates on November 30, 2020.
Performance in each round must be recorded unedited and without interruption.
Only top-quality grand pianos, such as Steinway, Bösendorfer or equivalent, should be used.
Highly professional video recording, both visual and audio, is strongly recommended.
The camera must be stationary, and the face and hands of the performer must be visible at all times. Indicate your name and the pieces at beginning of each video.
Sending sub-standard quality videos will risk being disqualified.
The SIPC reserves the right to post all videos on its website and on social media.
Both preliminary and final round videos must be received by January 10, 2021
